Have you started to spot some of the signs that will show that it’s time to do roof replacement soon? If so, you should start thinking about which roof materials you would like to use.
A good residential roofer will be able to use any number of different roof materials when installing a replacement roof for you. It’ll be your job to decide which one would be your best option.
We’re going to talk to you about several of the best options you’ll have when you hire a roofing contractor to put a new roof in place for you. It’ll make your decision so much easier in the end.
Learn about a few of the roof materials we would recommend below.
Asphalt Shingles
If you drive around in almost any neighborhood throughout the country, you’ll find that the bulk of them will have asphalt shingle roofs. Asphalt shingles are probably the most popular roof materials around.
Why? Well, for starters, asphalt shingles are easy to install and will last at least 15 years, if not longer. Asphalt shingles are also some of the most affordable roof materials on the market today.
You might also want to consider a few other types of shingles, including fiberglass shingles and composite shingles. They’ll often last a little longer than asphalt shingles and give you access to a wider range of colors and styles.
Slate Tiles
Slate roof tiles are going to cost more than asphalt shingles or any other type of shingles for that matter. But they have a higher-end look to them that you might like if you live in a certain type of home.
Slate tiles are also designed to last a lot longer than shingles. You can get anywhere from 50 to 200 years out of most slate tile roofs. You won’t have to worry about doing too many roof repair projects on them, either.
Metal Roofing
Much like slate tile roofs, metal roofing is built to last for a ridiculously long time. You should be able to get up to 70 years out of a metal roof regardless of whether you go with metal shingles or metal panels on your roof.
Metal roofing is similar to slate tile roofing in that it can cost you a pretty penny. But you might not mind spending a little extra on a metal roof when you see how awesome it looks and realize how long you’ll be able to enjoy it.
